Five Important Overland Trailer Gears You Should Carry for Travel
There’s nothing quite like traveling the backcountry in an overland trailer. There’s freedom, there’s flexibility, and there’s the promise of adventure. Be it you are a seasoned off-road connoisseur or just beginning your journey. The right equipment will always make the difference between roughing it and enjoying the great outdoors. The right gear is also mandatory, packed for that stress-free and fun-filled vacation. Here is an analysis of the core equipment needed especially for comfort and safety.
1. High-Quality Sleeping Gear
The first basic rule for overland travel is how to sleep when traveling. It does not matter whether you have a small trailer or a big camper. Solid sleeping supplies are a must. Purchase strong sleeping bags that are fit for all weather, along with travel-friendly sleeping pads or inflatable mattresses. If the trailer carries rooftop tents or a sleeping area within, the bedding should be travel-friendly off the road.
2. Portable Kitchen Setup
No matter how small the overland trailer may be, or even if it is a full sized expedition trailer. It is important to prepare and take meals in any other capacity above the trailers. A stove, pots and pans, cutlery, and other cooking related equipment may enhance enjoyment on a trip. Kitchen units are already provided in most overland trailers. However, a portable stove and cooking equipment can also be bought if necessary.
Also, do not forget things like a cutting board, some sharp knives and the containers to put the food in. And you may want to include a small ice box or a portable fridge for the food items that are not dry.
3. Water Storage & Filtration Mechanism
Clean drinking water should always be available during any off-road excursion. It is important to provide sufficient space for water storage in your trailer depending on how long the trip will take. Some expedition trailers come with inbuilt tanks for storing water.
Water filtration system is also very necessary when heading to places that are lacking. There are small water filtration devices or filtration straws that allow one to take water comfortably even when in motion.
4. Power System
Charging and powering your equipment while out in the wilderness is not easy. A rechargeable battery pack or a power bank will come in handy for charging phones, GPS devices, and lights. On the other hand, if you are going on an extended period trip, you may want to get a trailer with an electric system or consider purchasing a solar generator. In this manner, you will be assured power supply since you will not be concerned that the battery or fuel will run out.
5. Navigation Devices
Overland trailer for sale, comes with built in GPS devices. It is not a bad idea to carry additional navigation accessories as there is always the possibility of failure. A map and a compass are of great importance in cases where one’s GPS does not work, or there is no signal around.
Also, buy a rugged off road GPS, which is of good quality. There are many models that come with maps for use in overlanding. They have a feature that allows maps to be saved when the GPS unit is not in use. This is especially helpful when in remote areas where there is no cellular reception.
6. First Aid set
One must ensure all possible precautions in each situation, because safety comes first. Where an off-road trailer for sale is involved, a first aid box must be provided for. It should contain gauze, disinfectants, painkillers, and any other medication that one is likely to require.
For longer journeys, include in your first aid kit a splint, a tourniquet, burn relief creams and such. Basic items like an emergency blanket, whistle and a flashlight can also be important for more dire situations.
7. Shelter and Shade
It's always wise to carry alternative shelter even when your trailer has sleeping facilities. Whenever you're camping and still parked in the daytime, an awning or portable canopy is ideal. Tents are also a great addition, if you are traveling as a group and require additional sleeping arrangements.
Tarps can serve as any of the above and also come in handy in keeping your equipment dry in case of heavy downpour. Taking in some degree of flexible shelter options will make sure there is comfort for you no matter the weather conditions.
8. Lighting
When the day gets dark, it is important to ensure that there is adequate lighting. An option such as LED lights is quite economical and often comes in either portable or mountable type.
There are also headlamps and portable lanterns for when it is dark. It is for cooking dinner inside the tent or just walking around the camp. Remember to pack spare batteries or have your solar power system prepared to ensure lights function throughout the night.
9. Tool Kit
To take an overland trip ‘without’ a tool kit would be a big blunder. It should include wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, socket sets etc. It may come in handy for the trailer or the vehicle. Moreover, it is worthwhile to take spare fuses, belts, and hoses as they tend to wear out within rough off road drive.
Always carry jumper cables and a tire repair kit as well as a jack to keep the vehicle and the trailer in good shape when on the move. These particular tools will enable you to do small repairs yourself without having to call for help from the nearest repair shop.
10. Fire Prevention Tools
On the other hand, if you intend to cook or have a campfire then be sure to carry with you the necessary fire suppression equipment. In areas with potential fire breakouts, having a portable fire extinguisher is of utmost importance. Be sure to observe the local statutes with respect to fire activities and practice environmental safe measures. You should also carry fire starters, lighters, and matches to kindle flames even in adverse weather.

The beginning of the Rabbit Hole
Hello everyone.
Come follow along the rabbit 🐇 hole and the adventure begin.
This is baby girl (I have not officially named her yet); she is about to get outfitted for her Overlanding expeditions. We finally got the last piece we needed to begin the buildup. It's funny how the first piece of equipment we ordered was the last to arrive. There were some issues with the shipping on the company's side. In the end, they got it to us.
In the pictures, you see her just stock. No added extras, just straight off the showroom floor (well three years ago when we bought her). She is a beautiful ride. I just fell in love with that army green color. She is my third one. I did have a black one, swapped it in for a gray one and the dealership wanted to do a buy back again on that one, I was like no, no no....that is how we ended up with the gray one. You know, things just happen and me a Taz went to see what they had to offer....three hours later Taz and I and baby girl drove off the lot. It was that army green. It just stole my heart.
For three years I didn't know what to do with her. I kept saying that the only dirt she is going to see is off the roadway. Then in October (the day was the 21st 2023) we took Taz's and Dwights car to Mopar's on the Beach event. They went walking around and I stayed at the car when Taz came back and said there was something I needed to see.
Well, let's just say that what I needed to see was a rabbit 🐇 hole opening up. There was this jeep there that had a built-on awning, she had it opened up and it was so cool. I was like, I want that on my runner, Taz told me they do make them, and the rabbit 🐇 hole opened up and swallowed us both up.
So, to do the awning for my 4Runner you have to replace the roof rack. The search began. looking at any and all available roof racks for the awning that we both agreed to.
Oh yes that one right there, I really like that awning, it goes all the way around the vehicle. it will go good with the new tent you won at an auction for the car show you went to (on October 28, 2023). Did we need the new tent. NO, no we did not. We have a perfectly good 5th wheel camper, and we also have an (old, old) tent. We take it with us in the camper just in case. Now we have this new 6-person tent that we can put in the 4Runner to use with the awning.
Just a little FYI about Taz and me. We are campers. We can go tent camping to 5th wheel camper camping. Either way is good for us. The rv is stocked and ready (other than food and clothes) and the old tent, well that is ready also. We keep everything in totes. Grab the tent tote and the tote that goes with the tent that holds the Coleman stove and pots and pans, etc. and off we go. The only thing about tent camping that I don't really like is when it rains, water usually seeps up from the ground. I grew up camping and fishing and the outdoors. So many memories come rushing back, wait...now I am rambling and getting off topic. OOOPs 🤣🤣🤣😁
Back to the rabbi🐇t hole. Out of nowhere Taz sends me a link to a roof top tent. I was like what is that? and he was like a roof top ten, check it out. Ok little rabbits, keep digging in that hole. We set together over several days and look at all the different website, watch many different YouTube videos of the tents and came across the one we both really like. Dang nab it black Friday sales.
🐰Roof rack ordered Nov 3rd 2023 ---- check ---- level one of the rabbit hole.
🐰Awning ordered Nov 4th 2023 --- check --- Level two of the rabbit hole.
🐰Roof top tent ordered (surprise from Taz) Nov 6th --- check -- Level three of the rabbit hole.
The installation will begin over Thanksgiving. I will post more pictures and show you how she is coming along.
Stay tuned as the 🐰rabbit hole gets deeper and deeper. We have many other plans for her. BTW -- I called my daughter "Little Pooh" and told her I am spending her inheritance. 😂😂 She said ok mom....have fun. ❤️😘

303® and STA-BIL® Supports Keep Our Desert Clean
Highlighting Documentary - From the Ground Up: Keeping the Desert Clean August 10, 2023 (Chicago) – Two Gold Eagle brands are joining together to promote a much-needed environmental cause at this year’s Overland Expo Mountain West event. 303®, Gold Eagle’s brand of automotive detailing products, and STA-BIL®, the #1 fuel stabilizer brand in the USA, will jointly attend as exhibitors and are sharing their booth with Arizona-based non-profit, Keep Our Desert Clean. Both Gold Eagle Company brands are actively promoting the need to keep camping and overlanding areas clean and have backed the non-profit with company resources by producing a documentary film to highlight the problem that is occurring on public lands. The documentary will be promoted at their booth during the three-day event scheduled to take place in Loveland, CO, August 25-27. Mountain West is one of four shows produced by Overland Expo in 2023 and is expected to bring together in one location over 300 exhibitors and thousands of campers to experience and learn about adventure travel, camping, overlanding, and motorcycle gear and equipment. The festival-style event also provides opportunities for educational classes, demos, and activities. 303 will host demonstrations on how to clean and protect vehicles, kayaks, RVs, and more using their line of ceramic and graphene products including long-lasting 303 Graphene Nano Spray Coating, 303 Spray & Rinse Ceramic Sealant, and Slick Shine Ceramic Detailer. STA-BIL will explain the need for fuel stabilization especially in vehicles, small engines, or equipment that is periodically stored or powered by ethanol gasoline to ensure performance and reliability. Both brands will have product for sale and merchandise giveaways at the show. Bob Galuska, STA-BIL brand manager, says, “People who are into camping and overlanding are by and large environmentally focused but the small percentage that don’t care are wreaking havoc by leaving trash on public lands. This organization of incredible volunteers spends a great deal of their personal time cleaning up other people’s messes and is dedicated to bringing attention to the problem. Since protecting and preserving the things we love is in our DNA we wanted to support them anyway we could. This problem exists in every state, in deserts, lakes, mountain areas, and in every camp spot. It is more than the occasional bottle or flip-flop – we’re talking boats, tires, and broken ATVs. We hope that these documentaries will help people think twice about their actions and encourage more people to get involved so we can all enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoors.” For more information about Gold Eagle Company news and products, visit www.goldeagle.com. Few more companies and we can get to it the time for the bus is coming up in receipt of a very large company shortly
*and it is marketplace no Walmart doesn't want to sell anything this is a company that distributes light goods like he bites and things like that but for distributors and it is a distributor and it is overland and they're gigantic they have stuff everywhere and and we mean big vehicles large trucks and we are purchasing 80% of it and it is a giant company it's overland. They want to talk about the 20% too and we shall
*another company it is coming up for sale and it is quite large we haven't talked to and working on and they didn't want to sell it all now they're talking about selling they cannot handle the pressure or the number of calls or the people calling them they don't like it's Briggs and Stratton and it is a large company now they keep adding to it and they can't keep up with production they basically make motors small engines and that's what we're going to do even for cars and they make nice engines at work you put liquid cooling on them and they go forever and we are making a lot of jackets aftermarket but this will be different we're going to really crank these out okay that's the idea is to have game they want to sell us 80% we're meeting today they're wanting to discuss 20% additional and we shall
*there are certain other firms we're going to talk about Coleman and I came to us and she says they are a nice company do you like the engines they're better than his they look better okay but they are she says they work better and they're pretty close we didn't have any of it and they want to sell 90%, it's a deal especially a special one
-several other companies are coming to us they're very big but we're going to publish we have a lot of here
Thor Freya
Olympus
Zues
This is a happy day I wanted that company for a while and you said I could do boats and tons of them out of our special plastic then he came up with his RTA stuff or this DIY RTA and you get a boat hole and all the stuff and you bolted together and it's half price almost and I got excited that kind of money my husband could have bought one and he probably would and it's nice I really do enjoy this type of activity. And the other side of it is a lot of work but I do that work and I'm heavily involved and he wants me to be and he wants me to get going on the boat so I'm going to try hey babe touch base with ours to see the stats they said they'll call me I have a couple designs I want to put in and it helps me and my husband likes it usually I do stuff that's within keeping with the companies motif and it works very nicely and they have campers and we were going to revamp them it's a huge step we can make these campers a lot less expensive and much faster
Hera
It's very nice and we're going to help her out we do have her designs and we are going to make those and right away Coleman is supplying a lot of stores with things and they'll buy these and the boat is a great idea huge numbers of stores want it in the shop today and we know who and we're going to get them ready and send one disassembled and you send one assembled
Frank Castle hardcastle
I like the sales approach and you can store them stacked and then just put the packages in it and ship it off it's great we're going to help her out and she's going to get things going to sit down and sign then start making the boat and other things people want the small engine and we are way behind and we're going to get people on board in call centers and we're going to get them into factories and more and now

This Guide Will Help You Select The Ideal Van-Life Vehicle That Is Right For You
It's known as "van-life", "overlanding" or whatever you prefer. I've been doing this since the days when it was known simply as "living in your car." Over the course of many years and thousands of miles, I've learned what it takes to find a car you love. If you know what you want to search for, vans, SUVs and pickups can all be modified to fit the road-trip lifestyle.
Your daily life as a van driver will be influenced by the vehicle you choose to convert. The comfort, the volume of cargo you can carry, your day-to-day cost of living, even the likelihood of being pulled up by Karens or police officers--all are affected by your choice of vehicle.
If budget isn't a problem purchasing a van that is ready for life is, of course an easy task. Many companies now provide vans designed for endless road-tripping. But they aren't cheap. Even if they are used, for instance the popular Mercedes Sprinter will run you up to $35,000. Buy new and the sky is the limit.
We're not talking about the pre-made overlanders. Instead, I'm writing to the DIYers out there Many of them are probably working with the confines of a budget. If that's you, then let's get rolling.
Size and shape
The first thing you should consider when attempting to construct a home on wheels is how much area you'll be working with. The more room you have, the more space you'll have. On the other hand If you're living too large, you'll end up spending every penny for gas to transport the huge rig around.
It is important to strike the right equilibrium between how much space you can fit in and how little. While you might want the spacious panel van, you won't need to drive 14 miles per gallon for your car. A hatchback could be too small for long trips than weekenders, so you will need something with more elbow room.
Certain models also offer body shapes that are better to be converted. Certain SUVs may appear spacious initially, but as you begin building, you might discover that awkward angles or a small top can make it difficult to design an ergonomic camper arrangement. The more bigger the box, the better.
This is why I went with a Honda Element. While it's theoretically identical to a Honda CRV and Subaru Forester The Element is a large box when the seats are taken off. It is much more adaptable than other mid-sized SUVs. For the same reason, minivans are seeing a surge in sales to aftermarket. There's plenty of room for your family when you eliminate the child-friendly seats.
The gas mileage
youtube
While the cost of gas is always a major factor, it's now vital in the age of the six-buck-gallons. If you're embracing life on the road and paying your rent (or mortgage, if you're over 50) at the pump. A high MPG can make it impossible to live an ordinary life. It is likely that this is the reason you'll see increasing numbers of people choosing smaller SUVs rather than big vans these days.
Handling and capability
In my set-up, traveled more than 40,000 miles across North America last year. This covered all weather conditions and roads. Off-roading in Moab. Blizzards in Oregon, Idaho. Rural Mexico has bedraggled roads. Numerous rainstorms and hairpin mountain passes have been recorded. One tornado could have been in Colorado.
Overlanding isn't unusual for these kinds of driving situations. There are a lot of van conversions bouncing across the hardtop just outside Vegas, inching their way through a Pendleton snowstorm in winter's chilly temperatures, or attempting mucky dirt roads through the backcountry of Northern California.
In essence, you need the vehicle to be capable of handling the most severe road (or off-road) conditions you're likely to throw at it. The all-wheel drive feature in my Honda Element trim made it an ideal vehicle. Other reliable vehicles that you'll frequently encounter in the van-life scene include the Ford Transit, Subaru Forester, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Toyota 4Runner.
Reliability and the condition
The most obvious reason for looking for a car that's in good condition involves the human desire to ensure that you don't get a car that is broken down in the middle of the road, but an efficient conversion could have more ramifications.
Van-life was a new trend prior to the year 2020. It gained popularity because of the pandemic. Many people were looking for other travel options. Van conversions are now observed everywhere, and a lot of people who are not a fan of vans are fed up with the idea. People (or the police) who may not have been a bit irritated by someone parking on their streets for a night's rest a few years back are now much more likely to get up and make you go.
This has led to the growth of "stealth van-lifing" which is the act of parking your vehicle in a suburban or urban area and not attracting the attention of the locals. There are many techniques one can use to accomplish this, however, it all begins with the appearance of the vehicle.

Volkswagen's New ID Buzz EV Van Already Has a Slide-In Camper Unit
New Post has been published on https://medianwire.com/volkswagens-new-id-buzz-ev-van-already-has-a-slide-in-camper-unit/
Volkswagen's New ID Buzz EV Van Already Has a Slide-In Camper Unit
Ququq is based in Germany and actually makes five different versions of its camperbox modules for many types of European SUVs and vans, as well as some Japanese and American makes. These modules include a camper bed, kitchen, and storage in a single, typically slide-in unit that give owners a place to cook—including a gas stove—and to sleep while camping without breaking the bank with a full camper conversion.
Essentially a box containing the kitchen items forms the basis for a 3.9-inch-thick foam folding mattress that is between 43.3 and 52.75 inches wide depending on which version you get and folds out to 76.77 inches long when fully deployed. The best part is that you don’t need to rip out the vehicle’s rear interior to make it work. If you have a vehicle that has a third row seat (all U.S.-spec ID Buzzes will), it needs to be able to fold flat or be removed, but the second row doesn’t have to. For vehicles that have fold flat or removable second row seats, the bed’s forward end can be supported by chains or straps attached to either the grab handles or the upper seat belt anchors, or by its integrated folding legs on the bed. For vehicles with non-removable, but foldable second row seats that don’t fold completely flat with the cargo floor, you can use foam blocks to support the forward section on the folded-flat seat backs. Using those two handles on each side of the box, a set of lashing straps hold the box in place inside the vehicle while a smaller strap holds the folded bed down while in transit.
When everything is set up, you have a fully capable camper with a cooking stove; a place to store food, water and other items; and a small table to work with that pop out from below the bed.
The water storage is made for those rectangular water jugs with an integrated tap, and the bin below it can hold a small container to let you clean your dishes and silverware. The cooking stove is on a slide-out cabinet that has a wind protector and another place to store those dishes, cookware, and silverware. Push everything back in when you’re finished cooking, and the ID Buzz is good to go on an electric excursion without having to break down an extensive camp.
Done camping generally for a time, or need to use either the cargo hold or those third-row seats? You and a friend can remove the 140- to 195-pound assembly (depending on which version you get, but the BusBox is typically the heaviest of Ququq’s camping modules) out of your vehicle and store it away until you’re ready to use it again.
Ququq has already shown off the BusBox 4, which is made specifically for the upcoming ID Buzz, but that’s not the only version that Ququq has. These BusBoxes are made to work with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Metris vans, the Ram ProMaster, and the Ford Transit for European vans built for sale here in the U.S. They also offer the Flat Box camping modules for the Land Rover Discovery 3 and 4, the Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Sienna, Chrysler Pacifica, Lexus GX, and Honda Odyssey; the Kombi Box for the Ford Transit Connect; the D Box for the Defender 110 up until 2018; and the G Box for the 1979-2018 Mercedes G-Class, but only for the long-wheelbase version. Despite being built in Germany, these modules are sold in the U.S. by RRE, a company in Nevada that specializes in Overland Vehicle and Conversion Van parts and accessories.
While we know that there are many DIY conversions out there that might do this same basic task for very little cash using wood, it looks like the Ququq camper modules are a perfect solution for those who who just want a plug-and-play way to take their van camping. The modules start at $3,990 while the BusBox tops out at $4,490 for the version 2 that includes a pedestal to allow the bed to be fully folded while the rear seats are folded down.
We asked VW if the BusBox for the ID Buzz would be available at U.S. dealerships and for how much, but unfortunately, it hasn’t disclosed the ifs or whens by saying, “We are looking at offering a kitchen/bed module in our market and looking to leverage an established manufacturer. However, it’s too soon to say what the final features, pricing or sales channels would be.” In the meantime, we can’t wait to see if the classic Westfalia pop-top treatment makes a comeback for the ID Buzz. But such a creation would surely cost silly money, which is all the more reason to get excited for the Ququq BusBox.
